Verizon is having a nationwide outage, but AT&T and T-Mobile are still working

Verizon is experiencing a widespread nationwide outage affecting both cellular service and Verizon Fios internet. Many customers report being unable to make calls or send texts, with some phones showing “SOS” mode, indicating only satellite connectivity. Reports have come from multiple states across the U.S., including Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Oregon, and Arizona. Because of Verizon’s outage, customers on AT&T and T-Mobile are also having trouble reaching Verizon users, though both AT&T and T-Mobile say their own networks are operating normally. T-Mobile disruptions may also be linked to shared infrastructure or its ongoing network integration with UScellular. The exact cause of the outage is still unknown. Verizon’s network status tools are currently returning errors, and no official explanation has been provided yet.
